These are a few of my Favorite Things…

On Saturday I spent one very chilly morning assisting my friend with her Stella & Dot trunk show during the 2nd Annual Pink Out the Park 5K!Β  I had never really heard of Stella & Dot prior to Sarah becoming a stylist for them but now I’m totally digging their trendy pieces.

Pink out the Park is such a cool event bringing hundreds of people together to celebrate the strong women we all know and have known to be fighting breast cancer.Β  There were a bunch of local vendors as well as some pretty kick ass raffle prizes if I do say so myself.Β  Sarah brought along her fantastic collection to show off to the lovely ladies of Colchester and will even be donating the proceeds for the trunk show to Colchester Can Survive as a part of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer!

Sarah gave me these adorable bracelets for helping her out, all the proceeds for their breast cancer awareness line go straight to the Noreen Fraser Foundation!

Fun Facts Friday

It’s that time again! I am so pumped about the fact that it is already the weekend πŸ™‚

1. Thursday’s are Can and a Dog for $5 at Citizen Cider and everyone MUST check it out.

Citizen Cider at GMLMy office building is right down the street and for the last couple of Thursday’s the work crew and I have been hitting up the deck of Citizen Cider to enjoy a delicious cider and dog all for the lovely price of $5! Also, don’t let the ketchup and mustard fool you, the topping options for the dogs are unbelievable!

2. If you use Tarte’s BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer you will get compliments.

BB tinted treatment 12-hour primer SPF 30

You guys know my feelings on this stuff already but if you need more proof, here it is. On Sunday I had a guest tell me that I have a beautiful complexion and flawless skin. SAY WHATTT???? Thank you ma’am, but that is in fact a lie! However, I use a great BB cream and it literally holds up for hourrrsss as I applied it at 7am and was complimented 8 hours later. Do yourselves a favor here friends!

3. The Daily Planet is a great spot for date night.

The Daily Planet at GMLWe went on a double date last night to try out the new menu updates and we had a really good time. The food itself was very delicious we shared the Chicken Croquettes (basically chicken balls dipped in buffalo sauce) and they were soooo good! I had the Spinach and Artichoke Ravioli for my main meal and while it was great I will say the prices for the portions definitely missed the mark. They still have my favorite specialty drinks in Burlington though, the Havana never disappoints!!

4. Orange Leaf saves lives.

Orange Leaf on GMLThis may not be an actual fact BUT hey maybe it is? Salted caramel and brownie batter for the win!

5. I have finished the first 4 days of my 15 in 15 Challenge and it feels great!15 in 15 Challenge on GMLI plan to do a more detailed recap of the first 5 days on Sunday but so far it has really been good. I’ve been switching up the styles of yoga and what times I’ve been doing it but so far every day I have practiced for at least 15 minutes and that makes me so happy πŸ™‚

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Recapping: El Paso, Texas

Most people who blog tell you when they are going on super fun vacations and trips prior to going but when your super fun trip is to surprise your best friend (and reader of said blog) you have to cover it upon returning so here it goes!

I mentioned in a post a bit ago that my best friend is a bad ass and in the Army. In fact, Meredith is so bad ass that she will be deployed at the end of the month (I can only assume this is how the Army decides to deploy). A few months ago Mere’s other best friend reached out to see if I would be interested in taking the trip down to surprise her for a long weekend. Naturally I said yeehaw and off we went planning a surprise weekend.

Here are some of the highlights…Kari SquaredΒ Β  Meet Kari, we grew up in the same small town with the exact same name and the same best friend. It’s only natural that we are creepily similar (and totally opposite at the same time) and ended up as co-maids of honor in Mere’s wedding last summer. We are most commonly referred to as “the Karis.”

WhataburgerMere was working when we got there so her hubby picked us up at the airport and stowed us away at their house to wait for her… he also got us milkshakes that I quickly deemed the best thing EVER. Whataburger, you Texan genius you. I don’t think she was expecting to see us run out of her guest bedroom and instead of the normal crying you’d assume it was a lot of swearing at us… I’ll take it!

Kari, Meredith and IIt took us approximately 75 photos to get the perfect one for sharing with social media that we had surprised Mere… 24 hours later the whole world knew πŸ˜‰ Also, please note that this is the only grass in the entire city of El Paso.

Mexican FoodI had not realized just how close the border was (i.e. if you roll off the highway, you end up in Mexico) so it was a bit of a culture shock traveling from basically Canada. The food was absolutely delicious. This was the steak fajita dish that I got at Los Jarrones and I cannot explain how amazing it was. Authentic Mexican food at it’s finest!!!

Girls night in We shopped all day at the outlets on Sunday and it was just what the doctor ordered. I am so freaking pumped about all of the clothes I got. My work wear wardrobe has been non-existent for so long that it feels good to have options! Plus a girls night with wine and cards against humanity never hurts… so many laughs and a great big heart to heart πŸ™‚

Rajasaurus Rex This my friends, is the best photo I’ve ever taken.Β  Meet Raja, aka Rajasaurus Rex. He’s got one hell of a personality that dog! When you talk about him he instantly reacts to the point where you feel like you have to apologize to him for speaking that way. He’s smarter than he lets on, I’m not fooled by his running into walls at all!

It was a quick trip to El Paso but I am so glad that we were able to pull it off. Emotional best friend moment: I am so very proud of Meredith. I am constantly impressed with how she handles each circumstance she is placed in. She is not only an incredible soldier but more importantly she is an amazing person that I am 100% lucky to know.

Β Miss. Meredith, you are stronger than you know and I dare say even cooler than you give yourself credit for. Though let’s be serious your ego is comparable to mine πŸ˜‰ I will miss you tons but just know that if you think the Karis make great gift bags, just wait til we upgrade to sending care packages halfway across the world!

Have you ever made a surprise trip for someone?
